My current series centers on flowers, chosen for their inherent ephemerality, as a means to
investigate the fleeting nature of time and its connection to the act of painting. Created rapidly—
within one day or over a few—these works aim to convey a sense of urgency and immediacy.
Just as flowers are temporary, so too is time, which plays a central role in both subject and
process.

Flowers, with their fragile and fleeting beauty, symbolize the transient nature of life. The flower’s
bloom is brief; it’s beauty momentary. The paintings aim to capture the precarious nature of these
blooms that are on the verge of falling apart into fluid brush strokes. There is a tension between
wanting to hold on tightly to their forms and letting them collapse, fading into the background of
moody color.

The work serves as a visual meditation on the impermanence of life, urging viewers to reflect on
the beauty and brevity of their own experiences.The paintings remind us that moments of beauty,
joy, and luxury are fleeting and that we should appreciate and savor them while they last.
The body of work is influenced by my meditation practice of the past six years and by Buddhist
teachings. As the Buddha said, “Times of luxury do not last long, but pass away very quickly;
nothing in this world can be long enjoyed.” This sentiment underscores the core message of the
paintings—embracing the fleeting nature of our experiences and recognizing the importance of
living fully in the present moment.
